The SAJCC is an academic medical journal publishing original research, reviews and editorials in the fields of Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Nursing. The journal is published tri-annually and accredited by the South African Department of Higher Education and Training (DoHET), and indexed with PubMed Central.

It is the official journal of the Critical Care Society of Southern Africa (CCSSA), a non-profit organisation dedicated to delivering appropriate, quality care to the critically ill.
